Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister of the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, has extended his deep condolence towards the friends and family of the Saint Lucian Journalist Guy Ellis, who died earlier this week.
He said this loss would be considered a huge loss for the government. Further, he thanked him for serving as a journalist towards Saint Lucia.
Prime Minister took to social media and mentioned, “To the family and friends of the late Guy Ellis, I wish to convey my sincere condolences to you on the loss of your loved one.”
Further, he penned down that death always causes an individual to pause and reflect, and his memories bring me to the boy days growing up on Water Works Road, filled with dreams and endless pursuits.
“I pray that you find comfort in the body of work that Guy has shared with this nation as a journalist, capturing so much of this nation’s history for future generations,” the post by PM Pierre read.
In addition to this, he prayed for well-being of his family and loved ones and said, “May he rest in peace.”
Along with the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire also took social media to pay tribute to the late journalist. The condolence message by the Minister read, “It is with great sadness that I have learnt of the sudden passing of the veteran St. Lucian Journalist Guy Ellis.
Guy Ellis was an icon of St. Lucian journalism. In a career that spanned just over sixty years, starting as a young news reporter with the Voice in May 1962 and rising to become Managing Editor of two newspapers, the Voice and the Mirror, an international news correspondent, author and historian, journalism lecturer and Consultant, Guy Ellis was excellence itself.”
Many Saint Lucians have also expressed grief and sorrow and paid tribute to the journalist’s loved ones.
